From Degree to Dream Job: Mentoring Graduate Employability
A New Partnership, A Real Need
After being approached by the Career Centre at North-West University, I have been developing a brand-new short course focused on training NWU alumni in the skills of mentoring and coaching. The goal is practical and pressing: to equip mentors and coaches with the tools they need to actively promote graduate employability.
Because having a degree and knowing how to build a career from it are two very different things — and far too many graduates navigate that gap alone.
What the Short Course Will Cover
The short course is designed to help mentors and coaches support graduates in translating their qualifications into meaningful, sustainable employment. Whether you are an alumnus looking to give back, a professional already working with young graduates, or someone who simply believes in the power of good mentorship — this course is being built with you in mind.
The registration process is currently underway. Watch this space for more details as we get closer to launch.
In the Meantime — A Sneak Peek
While the course takes shape, a short video has been created using Google’s NotebookLM, drawing on ideas from an article I wrote on graduate employability. It brings some of those concepts to life in an accessible and engaging way.
It’s called: From a Degree to a Dream Job
